Privacy Policy

Now Open Columbia reports new openings, coming-soon spots, health scores and closings in Columbia, South Carolina, using public records. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how to have it deleted. It covers nowopencolumbia.com and our Facebook and Instagram pages.

What we collect

• Email sign-ups. If you join our email list, we keep your email address so we can send you updates. Our list is run through Buttondown.
• Tips you send us. If you email a tip, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and what you wrote.
• Comments and messages on our social pages. When you comment on or message our Facebook or Instagram pages, we see your public name and what you wrote. We use Meta's official tools to read these so we can reply to you and spot tips about new businesses.
• Basic site data. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may log standard technical data such as your IP address and browser type to keep the site secure and working.
• How people use the site. We use Microsoft Clarity to see which parts of our pages people tap and how far they scroll, so we can make the site easier to use. Clarity uses cookies and does not sell your data. See Microsoft’s privacy statement.

How we use it

• To send the emails you signed up for.
• To reply to your comments, messages and tips.
• To find and report local business news.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We never publish your private messages or email address. If a tip you send becomes a story, we only credit you by name if you say that's okay.

How long we keep it

We keep email addresses until you unsubscribe. We keep tips and messages only as long as we need them to reply or report a story.

Deleting your data

You can ask us to delete anything we have about you at any time. Email hello@nowopencolumbia.com with the subject "Delete my data" and tell us the name or email you used. We will delete it within 30 days and confirm by email. To leave our email list, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email.

If you connected with us through Facebook or Instagram, you can also remove our access in your Facebook settings under Apps and Websites, then email us to delete anything we already received.

Children

Our site and pages are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
